Harvest time

First of all, I want to say thank you to everybody who ventured out and picked up Star Wars: Red Harvest this week. I just found out that it's #22 on the New York Times bestseller list -- so thank you to everybody who ventured out the week between Christmas and New Year's and checked it out. I really appreciate your support -- and I hope you dig the book.

I am going to be doing a book signing this Saturday, for those of you in the central PA area. I'll be signing at Borders in Camp Hill, at 3515 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA, (717) 975-2132, at 2PM. It should be a lot of fun -- my pals from the 501st will be there dressed as stormtroopers, so bring your cameras and your kids.

In other news, I'm moving forward with 2011's projects, including Au Revoir, Crazy European Chick, which Houghton-Mifflin is bringing out in October. I've been looking at some early cover art and jacket copy, and it looks fantastic. I'm also putting the finishing touches on my screenplay adaptation of Ryan Brown's zombie football mashup Play Dead, and it's coming along great as well. I'll try to keep you informed as things move along.

Hope you had a great holiday and January is treating you well.

Hey Joe,
I picked up Red Harvest on Wednesday morning and finished it Wednesday night. I really just couldn't put it down. It was a great read, and a great companion to Death Troopers. I certainly hope you do more Star Wars work - the saga's all the better for having an author like you take stories in new directions. Whether it's zombies or not, I'll be looking forward to your next Star Wars entry.

Out of curiosity, I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the book jacket? Specifically, are either of the characters depicted on it intended to be any of the characters specifically mentioned in the book? I'm relatively certain that the fellow on the back cover is supposed to be Scabrous, but I'm not so certain about the friendly guy in front. Perhaps Ra'at or Lussk?

Thanks again for a great book!

Thanks, Danny! And thanks for taking the time to post here. I'm glad you liked the book. My favorite reading experiences are always the ones you can't put down.

I think Ra'at or Lussk would both be good candidates for the guy on the front cover. I actually kind of like that it's left open for interpretation. Creepier that way, somehow...

Will you be signing again in the Central PA area anytime again soon?

Joe, thx for taking the time to sign my books at the signing today. It was a blast meeting you and the turn out looked to be pretty good. It definitely looked liked the kids were having a good time. Can't wait to finish Dark Troopers and start on Red Harvest. You've got me hooked and good!

Joe! You're the man! I have to say, after wandering into that bookstore and seeing that severed stormtrooper head, i knew i had to read it. From there i branched out and have read most everything of yours (save eat the dark) and recently started red harvest.

You're a true inspiration! I've gathered so much from your writing style, clever word-play, and sinister descriptions. I don't have to tell you to keep it up.

I've Started to do a bit of my own writing (a scary thought in itself). Wish me luck, huh?

The name's Noah, by the way - just a fan from california.
