Mr.Schreiber, I recently read your book (in english) and I have to say I found it quite inspiring, I am a beginning writer myself and i was curious to know, what do readers prefer more? a shock/jump factor or an actual creepy factor that makes you paranoid and jumpy at noise for days on end. Like I said I am a begining writer and have finished a short story myself, about the walking dead. While my work is not published and I lack the same type of flair you do, I was curious if you could give me some pointers.
I'm the author of AU REVOIR, CRAZY EUROPEAN CHICK, available now from Houghton Mifflin in the US and coming in January from Egmont/Electric Monkey in the UK!

I agree, its a bit creepier in a foreign language.
For me as a german it is not that creepy. I prever the english version and enjoyed it a lot.
