Death Troopers invade San Diego

Ed Dennis, also known as TD-443 of the Southern California 501st garrison, sent me some amazing pictures of himself as a Death Trooper at the Comic Con. You can see them all here, but these are my favorites. Gooey goodness.

DEATH TROOPERS website goes live

Thanks to the good folks at Lucasfilm and Del Rey books, Death Troopers now has an official website. One of the things we're featuring on it is contest for anyone who wants to make a trailer for the book. We decided to kick it off ourselves with a homemade book trailer filmed last month in NYC with members of the 501st.

You can see the trailer at the Death Troopers site -- but you can only see these exclusive behind-the-scenes photos here. Who was I, to turn down the opportunity to dress like a Stormtrooper?

Portrait of the author as a heavily armed menace (or a complete geek).

And, with the helmet on:

Me and the fellas -- I'm holding the customized "bloody helmet," two of which were built for display at Comic Con.

"Are you talkin' to me?" On location on the derelict Star Destroyer:

Our real-life mockup of the cover art:

Be sure to check out the site and enter the trailer contest -- I'm looking forward to the entries!

So Yes, I'm Now Working on TWO Secret Projects

Would I love to be able to tell you more about them? Yes.

Can I do that, until the contracts are signed and the projects themselves officially and publically revealed? No.

Do they both have the same deadline, that is, mid-to-late October? Yes.

Am I, perforce, high for undertaking such a thing? Maybe.

Can you have some of whatever I've been smoking? No. You couldn't handle it. Or maybe you could. Either way, smoking is bad for you.

Poster Boy

What fresh awesomeness is this? It's only the official Death Troopers poster, all 18x36'' of it, to be handed out free at the San Diego Comic Con later this month. If you happen to be there, be sure to stop by the Del Rey booth in the Star Wars pavilion, Booth 2913D, and pick up yours!

Star Wars Galaxies

I just found out that Star Wars Galaxies, the MMORPG developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, will be doing a game update this fall based on Death Troopers. Check out this conceptual art. The Wookiee in the background is seriously giving me the shivers.
